Chrishan Nalliah is a Conjoint Associate Professor at the Macquarie Medical School and an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow. He holds a PhD in Cardiology from The University of Melbourne (2020), an MBBS (Hons) from the University of Sydney (2007), and an LLB (Hons) and BSc (Advanced) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Sydney (2003 and 2001, respectively). His research focuses on atrial fibrillation mechanisms, cardiac arrhythmias, and the interplay between sleep apnea and cardiovascular health. He leads projects on gender differences in atrial fibrillation management and the impact of sleep apnea on cardiac outcomes.
Research Interests: Atrial Fibrillation, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Catheter Ablation, Sleep Apnea Syndromes, and Cardiovascular Research. His work spans clinical trials, device-based therapies, and translational research in arrhythmia management.

Grants and Projects: Leads 11 active and completed projects, including studies on atrial fibrillation mechanisms, sleep apnea’s impact on cardiac structure, and gender-based differences in AF management. Recent work includes evaluating epicardial adipose tissue’s role in atrial remodeling and improving conduction system pacing outcomes in heart failure.
