Christopher X Wong

Professor Christopher X Wong serves as Professor of Medicine within the Adelaide Medical School at the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He holds joint appointments as Professor of Cardiology at the University of Adelaide and Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. His clinical practice focuses on complex ablation and device cases including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and lead extraction.

Professor Wong's research spans the spectrum of heart rhythm disorders from atrial fibrillation through to ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. His methodological approaches include epidemiological/population-based studies using cohort studies and routine data sources, mechanistic studies employing electrophysiological techniques and cardiac imaging, and clinical intervention studies evaluating pharmacologic, device, and ablation therapies for arrhythmias.

With over 300 journal articles and conference proceedings (h-index 37) published in major medical journals including the British Medical Journal, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and European Heart Journal, Professor Wong has established himself as a leading researcher in cardiovascular medicine.

He serves as Associate Editor for BMC Cardiovascular Disorders, European Heart Journal Case Reports & Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, reviews for over 40 international journals, and sits on grant-funding committees for the NHMRC, MRFF, and Heart Foundation. He is an invited faculty member at leading international heart rhythm conferences and participates in international guideline committees.
