Dmitri L. Danilov

Dr. Dmitri L. Danilov is a Researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), specializing in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He holds a concurrent Research Fellow position at Research Centre Julich (FZJ) since 2017. His primary focus is on mathematical modeling of complex electrochemical systems, particularly Li-ion and NiMH batteries, with an emphasis on aging and degradation processes. Danilov’s work also addresses battery management systems, hydrogen storage, and Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy. He has contributed to major projects like the Green Transport Delta initiative and ECSEL’s 3Ccar project, focusing on battery state-of-charge estimation and thermal management.

Education: He earned his M.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from Saint-Petersburg University (1993) and a Ph.D. from Tilburg University (2003), studying model selection and pre-testing. His career includes postdoctoral research at Eurandom (TU/e) on battery projects like 3D Integrated Batteries and FP7 SUPERLION.

Research Interests: Electrochemical systems modeling, battery degradation mechanisms, and renewable energy storage. He has authored/co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, with notable contributions to Scientific Reports, Advanced Energy Materials, and Electrochimica Acta.

Projects: Key roles in projects such as the Battery Competence Center (REACT-EU funded) and AutoDrive (ageing-aware fast charging). His work spans interdisciplinary collaborations in Germany, Netherlands, and beyond, addressing challenges in battery lifecycle optimization and sustainable energy systems.

Labs/Teams: Engaged with TU/e’s Dynamics and Control for Electrified Automotive Systems group and collaborates with FZJ on advanced battery research.
