Sarthak Mehta is a Doctoral Candidate at the Membrane Materials and Processes Group within the Department of Chemical Engineering & Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on electro-osmotic dewatering processes for sustainable biobased materials, aligning with the NWO-enabled KIC ELECTRIFIED program.
Research Interests: Sarthak's work addresses energy-efficient alternatives to conventional dewatering techniques through electro-responsive hydrogels, charged biomass surfaces, and electrohydrodynamic drying. His research aims to optimize parameters like pH, electrical energy consumption, and biomass surface charges for industrial scalability.
Publications: His 2024 review article in Langmuir explores membrane separation advancements for biomaterial dewatering, contributing to sustainable processing methodologies. This work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for responsible consumption and industrial sustainability.
Academic Background: Sarthak holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Shiv Nadar University, India, and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Groningen, Netherlands. Prior to his PhD, he worked as an Associate R&D Engineer at an electrochemical wastewater treatment startup.
