Maria Vlasiou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and holds a Full Professorship at the University of Twente. She is also a Research Fellow at EURANDOM. Her research focuses on stochastic processing networks, particularly in energy systems, high-tech manufacturing, and cellular networks. She leads projects on interacting networks, Lévy processes, and risk models. Vlasiou has supervised six PhD theses and teaches courses in probability, stochastic processes, and performance modeling.
Education: BSc (2002) and PhD (2006) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and TU/e, respectively. Postdoctoral work at Georgia Tech (2006–2008). Awards include the MAM8 Marcel Neuts Student Paper Award (2014), ICORES Best Paper (2013), and TU/e’s Women Wall of Fame (2017).
Her work contributes to SDGs related to sustainable energy systems and industrial efficiency. She serves on editorial boards of four journals and has secured over €3.7M in research funding. Current projects address energy distribution networks and transport logistics, with applications in supply chain resilience and battery swapping infrastructure.
