Ditlev Otto Juel Reventlow is an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management. His research focuses on converting monoculture plantations to near-natural forests, emphasizing biodiversity, timber production, and carbon sequestration. He leads the EU LIFE project 'Forests fit for future' and teaches the MSc course 'Silviculture of Temperate Forest'.
His education includes a PhD in forest management from the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Environmental Engineering and Forest/Nature Management.
Research interests center on:
- Forest conversion techniques
- Ecosystem service monitoring (biodiversity, carbon storage)
- Development of planning tools for sustainable forestry
- Climate-resilient silviculture practices
Recent publications (2020-2023) analyze species mixing effects, drought resilience, and economic models for forest conversion across European climates. Trends show strong emphasis on conifer adaptation, productivity stability, and silvicultural innovation.
He contributes to policy frameworks through research cited in European forestry guidelines and maintains collaborative networks across 15+ countries.
