Dr. Dinh Phan is an Associate Professor of Finance at La Trobe Business School, La Trobe University. He holds a PhD from Deakin University and has previously held academic positions at Monash University Malaysia, Taylor’s University, and Deakin University. His research focuses on financial economics, asset pricing, forecasting, energy finance, and corporate finance. He has been recognized as a leading researcher in Australia, including being named a 'Rising Star' and among the Top 40 young researchers in 2020, and received La Trobe Business School’s Mid-Career Researcher Award in 2020.
Dr. Phan’s expertise includes corporate finance, financial econometrics, and financial markets. He has published extensively in top journals such as the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Energy Economics, and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money. He currently serves as a subject editor for the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.
His research highlights include studies on green innovation’s impact on corporate default risk, geopolitical risk’s influence on bank stability, and the economic policy uncertainty’s relationship with financial stability. His work often explores global perspectives, including cross-country analyses of corporate investment, energy markets, and pandemic responses.
Dr. Phan teaches courses such as Econometrics of Financial Markets, Equity Securities, and Financial Management. He is open to supervising Masters and PhD students, collaborating on research projects, and engaging with industry and media.
