Xiangkang Yin is a Professor and Head of the Department of Finance at Deakin Business School, part of Deakin University's Faculty of Business and Law. Previously, he served at La Trobe University for over 23 years, holding roles including Professor of Economics and Finance and Head of the Department of Finance (2012–2014). His research focuses on corporate finance and governance, financial markets microstructure, and asset pricing. He has led three Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded projects and publishes in top-tier journals like the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
His research interests include corporate finance governance dynamics, financial market efficiency, and information asymmetry. Notably, his work explores how institutional behavior, audit quality, and market microstructure elements influence firm innovation and stock return dynamics. Recent studies analyze the role of ETFs in market volatility and the impact of investor tax policies on trading behaviors.
Yin supervises doctoral candidates in finance, including Tripti Rathi (2023) and Vinh Duc Anh Hua (2024), focusing on topics like cryptocurrency mining and individual investor behavior. His grants and leadership reflect a commitment to advancing empirical finance research with practical implications for corporate strategy and market regulation.
