Professor Dimitry Anastakis holds the L.R. Wilson/R.J. Currie Chair in Canadian Business History at the University of Toronto, affiliated with both the Department of History and the Rotman School of Management. His research focuses on the intersection of business, state policy, and globalization in post-1945 Canada, with notable work on the Canadian auto industry and neoliberalism's emergence. He has authored nine books, including studies on the Bricklin car venture and free trade dynamics. Anastakis previously co-edited the Canadian Historical Review, chaired the Canadian Business History Association, and served as a Fulbright Chair in Canadian Studies at Michigan State University.
Education: PhD and MA from York University; BA from Western University.
Research Interests: Canadian business history, political economy, automotive industry evolution, and the socio-political impacts of globalization. His current projects explore the 1970s Bricklin car venture and free trade debates within neoliberal frameworks.
