Dimitrios Dalaklis

Dimitrios Dalaklis is a Professor in Safety and Security at the World Maritime University (WMU), joining in 2014 after a 26-year career in the Hellenic Navy. He is also the UArctic Chair in Search and Rescue (SAR), with expertise in maritime safety, security, and Arctic developments.

• Education: Bachelor in Maritime Sciences (Hellenic Naval Academy), MSc in Information Technology Management & Defence Analysis (Naval Postgraduate School, U.S.), PhD in Shipping, Trade and Transport (University of the Aegean).

His research spans maritime safety regulations (e.g., SOLAS Convention), electronic navigation systems, maritime energy management, autonomous shipping, and Arctic security. He has authored/co-authored influential books and papers, including works on ECDIS, piracy, and smart ports.

His publications highlight trends in maritime automation, sustainability, and digital navigation technologies. He has served in senior educational roles, including Head of the Navigation Simulator Department at Hellenic Naval Academy.
