Dr. Dimitrios Theocharis is a Lecturer in Maritime and Transport Economics at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. He serves as Programme Director for the MSc Maritime Policy and Shipping Management and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His academic journey includes a PhD in Maritime Economics (2021), an MSc in Social Science Research Methods (2016), and an MSc in International Transport (2014).

His research focuses on Shipping Economics, Transport Geography, and Arctic Shipping. He develops techno-economic models to evaluate maritime route choices, vessel designs, and fuel alternatives. His work systematically examines Arctic shipping's economic feasibility, environmental trade-offs, and technological requirements.
Recent publications analyze the influence of energy efficiency regulations (EEXI, CII) on ship valuations, Arctic route viability under fluctuating commodity prices, and techno-economic trade-offs in polar navigation.
