Dilon Bryan serves as a Part Time Faculty member in the Music Department at the University of North Georgia. A British-born hornist originally from Birmingham, United Kingdom, he currently resides in Atlanta, GA while maintaining his dual career in music education and professional performance.
Mr. Bryan's academic background includes a Bachelor of Music Performance from Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Santa Fe, Argentina (2017) and a Master of Music Performance with horn concentration from the University of Georgia (2019). He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder under the instruction of Michael Thornton (principal horn of Colorado Symphony) and Carolyn Kunicki (second horn).
His professional performance experience spans numerous prestigious ensembles including the Colorado Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale, Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Breckenridge Music Festival, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Central City Opera, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He previously held the horn chair position with Ensemble Flatirons, a chamber group of top-performing brass musicians at CU Boulder, and has served as guest principal horn with the Atlanta Symphony.
His notable achievements include:
- Winner of the 2019 Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta Scholarship Competition, which funded his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria
- First Prize winner in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, performing in the Wiener Saal in Salzburg
Mr. Bryan has studied under distinguished instructors including Anna Dodd, Natalie Higgins, Catherine Kilroe-Smith, Jean Martin-Williams, Achim Reus, and Johannes Hinterholzer, bringing this extensive professional experience to his teaching at UNG.
