Dilip Kumar Paul serves as a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Portland, joining the institution in 2024 as part of the new faculty cohort.
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in electroanalytical chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he developed novel methods for monitoring oil-water interface reactions. He completed both his master's degree and undergraduate studies in chemistry at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Paul brings diverse professional experience to his teaching role, having worked as a process engineer and quality/reliability engineer at Intel Corporation prior to academia. He has instructed chemistry and biochemistry courses at Willamette University, Brescia University, Clark College, and Clackamas Community College. His educational philosophy emphasizes leveraging students' cultural and familial backgrounds as assets for learning and leadership development, with particular passion for foundational chemistry courses and laboratory instruction that bridges theoretical concepts with hands-on critical thinking.
Outside academia, he enjoys family time, gardening, and hiking in the Pacific Northwest region.
