Dieter Heimböckel

Dieter Heimböckel is a tenured Professor of Literature and Interculturality at the University of Luxembourg, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. He holds a permanent position at the Institute of German Language, Literature and Interculturality, where he focuses on modern German literature and cross-cultural studies.

Education:

• Studied Law (1980-1986) at Universities of Bonn, Cologne, and Bochum
• Magister Artium in German and Italian Studies (1991) from Gerhard-Mercator-University Duisburg

Research Interests span German literature from the 18th century to contemporary works, intercultural theory, dramatic arts, and the intersection of literature with medicine. His work emphasizes cultural alterity and modernist aesthetics.

Current Research Projects include internationalization processes in contemporary theatre (ProTheIn, since 2013) and theoretical frameworks for cultural displacement. He also explores literature-medical education interfaces and Oskar Loerke's works.
