Dr. Dieter Fischer is a research scientist specializing in analytical chemistry at the Advanced Macromolecular Structure Analysis department of the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden. With extensive expertise in spectroscopic methods and polymer characterization, he contributes significantly to the institute's analytical capabilities.
His research focuses on:
- Analytical chemistry and multivariate data analysis
- Spectroscopy techniques (FTIR, NIR, UV/VIS, Raman, Ultrasonic)
- Polymer analysis in solution and melt states
- Microplastic particle identification in environmental samples
- Application of analytical methods to cultural heritage preservation
Working within the Spectroscopy & Microplastics research group, Dr. Fischer applies advanced instrumentation to solve complex materials characterization problems. His expertise in Process Analytical Technology enables real-time monitoring of polymer processes in reactors, mixers, and extruders. He has developed specialized methods combining particle analysis with FTIR and Raman microscopy for environmental microplastic research, addressing a critical contemporary ecological challenge. His analytical approaches also extend to art conservation, where he investigates historical paintings and church windows using non-destructive techniques.
