Dieter Baums

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dieter Baums is a faculty member at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in Friedberg, Germany, where he works in the Department of Practical Computer Science and Media Informatics. He leads the Computer Network Technology Laboratory and the Cisco Networking Academy at THM.

His research and teaching interests focus on:

• Network Security
• Cybersecurity
• Infrastructure Automation
• Computer Science Education

Prof. Baums serves as an expert for program accreditations for agencies including ASIIN, ZEvA, ACQUIN, and AQAS. Since 2005, he has been involved in national and international program and system accreditation, as well as in internal peer reviews of higher education institutions.

His current teaching responsibilities include:

• Cisco CyberOps Associate
• Cisco Network Security
• Cisco DevNet Associate

He maintains consultation hours during summer semester 2025 on Wednesdays 10:00-11:00 (excluding July 23, 2025) and is planning course offerings for summer term 2025 across multiple academic programs including Electrical and Information Technology, Technical Informatics, and Network and Communication Technology.
