Anisa Mkuwu

Anisa Mkuwu is a Lecturer at Staffordshire University, specializing in Computer Networks and Security. She joined in 2015 after roles at South Essex College and the University of Essex. Her academic journey includes a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (Ulster University, 2005), an MSc in Telecommunications and Networks (Ulster University, 2007), and a near-completed PhD in 'The Application of Deep Learning to Cyber Security' at Staffordshire University. She is a Cisco-certified instructor for CCNA, Network Security, CyberOps Associate, and DevNet Associate.

Her expertise spans Network Design, IoT Security, and the application of Machine Learning/Deep Learning to Cyber Security. She designs modules for distance learning courses targeting HM Forces personnel, focusing on networking and security. Professional memberships include the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and British Computer Society (MBCS).

Research interests include Cyber Security threats, data science analysis of cyber datasets, and automated threat detection via AI. Teaching roles encompass undergraduate modules on Networking Fundamentals, LAN/WAN, and Network Security, as well as postgraduate project supervision.
