Diego Valente is an Associate Professor in Residence and Director of Teaching Laboratories in the Department of Physics at the University of Connecticut. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Central Florida (2009) and degrees from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, including a B.Eng. (2002) and M.Sc. (2004). His career includes roles as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2010–2013) and Visiting Assistant Professor (2013–present) at UConn.
Dr. Valente’s research interests span experimental physics, particularly in condensed matter and quantum mechanics, complemented by a focus on physics education and laboratory pedagogy. His honors include multiple teaching excellence commendations from UConn and recognition as a Humboldt Fellow. He oversees the Teaching Laboratories, emphasizing hands-on experimental training for students.
