Diego Montiel Rojas is a Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Örebro University's School of Health Sciences, Division of Sports Science. He manages the Sport Science Platform Laboratory and is part of the Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine (EPSM) research group. His expertise spans recovery strategies in sport, particularly for female athletes, and the interplay between diet, aging, and muscle health. He completed his PhD in 2022, focusing on diet and sarcopenia risk in older adults.
Education includes a degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences from the University of Granada (2007), an MSc in Sports Physiology and Medicine from Örebro University (2016), and a PhD from Örebro University (2022). He leads projects like the 'Recovery in Sports' initiative and investigates interventions to enhance post-exercise recovery and training adaptations.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on physiological assessments, recovery strategies, and research methodology. He supervises students across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs and coordinates the BSc Coaching Programme, preparing students for careers in health, fitness, and high-performance sports.
