Diane Derr is an Associate Professor in Design Studies and currently serves as the Associate Dean for Research and Development at VCUarts Qatar, part of Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work spans interactive media, critical design, and narratology.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture, an MFA from Columbia College Chicago, and a dual-degree BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Her research focuses on interactive media and critical design, examining intertextual narratives across communication systems and the phenomenology of interaction through mediation technologies. Her projects have been showcased internationally at venues like the University of the Aegean, German University of Cairo, and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
