Diana Prata is a Marie Curie Fellow and Research Fellow at the University of Lisbon’s Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, where she leads the Biomedical Neuroscience Lab. She holds visiting roles as a Lecturer at King’s College London (KCL) and an Associate Member at ISCTE. Her career spans over 12 years in the UK, including postdoctoral research at KCL’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and a joint venture with Optimal Medicine Ltd in pharmacogenetics.
Education: Earned a Biology degree from the University of Lisbon (2002) and a PhD in neuroimaging genetics at KCL (2008). Her research focuses on genetic and neuroimaging biomarkers for mental disorders, particularly psychosis. Awards include the Marie Curie Actions 3rd Prize for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (2017).
She coordinates multidisciplinary projects, including NIHR-funded psychosis biomarker work, and has pioneered translational research linking genetics to clinical applications. Her lab at the University of Lisbon integrates biomedical engineering and neuroscience to advance mental health diagnostics.
