Diana Newmark

Diana Newmark is an Associate Clinical Professor of Law and founding director of the Education Advocacy Clinic at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law. She holds the title of Distinguished Public Service Scholar and was awarded the 2024 Distinguished Public Service Scholar Award. Her roles include teaching, research, and clinical legal education focused on education law, juvenile law, and children’s rights.

Education: She earned a JD, cum laude, from New York University School of Law and a BA in Philosophy from Columbia University. Prior to law school, she taught special education in the Bronx, New York for four years. Her professional background includes roles as a Climenko Fellow and Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, staff attorney at the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C., and Skadden Fellow at The Legal Aid Society in the Bronx, specializing in school discipline and special education cases.

Research & Service: Newmark’s work emphasizes public service and children’s advocacy. She oversees the Education Advocacy Clinic, which provides legal support to children in education-related matters. She serves on the Board of Directors of Disability Rights Arizona, furthering her commitment to marginalized communities. Her career bridges academic law, clinical practice, and policy advocacy for vulnerable youth.
