Diana Negrín da Silva

Diana Negrín da Silva is a Lecturer specializing in human and cultural geography, critical race theory, and social movements with a focus on Latin America and California. Her work bridges geography and cultural studies to examine identity, space, and social dynamics across the United States and Latin American contexts.

Since 2003, she has conducted ethnographic and archival research in Mexico's Jalisco and Nayarit states, focusing on urban indigenous university students and young professionals. Current projects analyze the politics of solidarity within interracial and cross-geographic alliances mobilizing around indigenous culture and territory, particularly in border regions.

She teaches undergraduate courses including GEOG 159AC (The Southern Border), GEOG 167AC (Border Geographies, Migration and Decolonial Movements of Latin America), and GEOG 170 (Geographies of Race and Ethnicity in Latin America), emphasizing decolonial approaches and racial geographies.
