María Saldaña-Portillo is Professor of Social & Cultural Analysis at NYU, specializing in Latinx/Latin American studies and decolonial theory. She holds a PhD from Stanford and has received the Casa de Las Americas Prize and John Hope Franklin Prize for her scholarship on racial geographies.
Research examines colonial legacies, indigenous sovereignty, and revolutionary movements across the Americas. Publications analyze literary narratives, border violence, and citizenship frameworks. She contributes to critical ethnic studies and transnational historiography.
