Diana Meemken

Diana Meemken serves as a full Professor and Deputy Managing Director at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene within the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Freie Universität Berlin. She heads the Meat Hygiene Group and holds specialized credentials as a Dipl. ECPHM (European College of Porcine Health Management) specialist veterinarian for pigs.

Her research focuses on critical areas of food safety and hygiene, with particular expertise in meat hygiene protocols and veterinary public health. Her work bridges the gap between animal production systems and food safety standards, with emphasis on porcine health management and animal welfare considerations throughout the food chain.

Professor Meemken maintains active engagement in professional development initiatives, including organizing animal welfare training for slaughterhouse workers and transport company employees. She is also involved in planning the Berlin Veterinary Public Health Meeting 2025, demonstrating her leadership in the field.

As Deputy Managing Director of the Center for Veterinary Public Health, she plays a significant administrative role while maintaining direct student engagement through regular office hours held every Monday from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
