Diana Leyva is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. Her research examines family processes, parenting, and intervention programs for minority families, with a focus on early language, literacy, and math development. She directs the Food for Thought research group.
Education includes a PhD from Clark University and post-doctoral training at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Current graduate advisees include Rebecca McGregor, Qianjin Guo, and Emanuelle Silva. Her work develops culturally responsive interventions to enhance school readiness in Latino communities through everyday activities like grocery games and family food routines.
Research explores maternal reminiscing styles, home learning environments, and teacher-child interactions in diverse cultural contexts including Chile and the United States.
