Diana Bellin serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Università degli Studi di Verona. Her academic sector is AGRI-06/A - Agricultural Genetics with research focus on applied genetics, gene editing, transgenic organisms, plant sciences, and plant breeding.
Her research interests center around plant molecular biology with particular emphasis on genetic mechanisms in viticulture and enology. Dr. Bellin specializes in NO signaling functions in grape plants and plant hypersensitive disease resistance response. Her laboratory, Biotecnologie Genetiche, focuses on characterizing NO functions at cellular and molecular levels in plants, with recent work shifting toward grape research while maintaining Arabidopsis as a model plant.
Dr. Bellin is actively involved in multiple research projects including 'PRIN 2022 PNRR - New tools for seedlessness in sustainable table grapes. NOSEEDS' (started November 30, 2023) and 'Caratterizzazione di tratti di resilienza a stress abiotico in landraces algerine' (started February 15, 2024). Her work bridges fundamental plant science with practical agricultural applications, particularly in viticulture.
She holds significant institutional responsibilities including membership on the Faculty Board of PhD in Biotechnology, Teachers' Committee in the Master in Applied Biotechnology, and the Biotechnology Departmental Council. She also serves on the Commissione AQ Didattica and as Incaricato AQ Didattica for the Department.
Dr. Bellin teaches several courses across multiple degree programs including Methods in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Molecular Genetics and Genomic Tools for Plant Breeding, Omics sciences, and Analysis of viticultural terroirs. Her teaching spans both Bachelor's and Master's level programs with consistent involvement from academic year 2011/2012 through 2025/2026.
