Diana Arseni is a Research Fellow at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on lysosomal biology, neurodegenerative diseases, and brain aging mechanisms.
- University: University of Cambridge
- Department: MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology
- Academic Rank: Research Fellow
Dr. Arseni’s research investigates the role of lysosomal protein TMEM106B in age-dependent amyloid formation and its implications for neurodegenerative diseases like frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and Alzheimer’s. She also explores TDP-43 and TAF15 amyloid structures in FTLD subtypes, using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to elucidate their molecular mechanisms. Key themes include:
- Age-related lysosomal dysfunction in neurodegeneration
- Protein aggregation and amyloid structure analysis
- Genetic modulation of healthy aging and disease risk
- Therapeutic strategies targeting lysosomal biology
Her recent publications highlight multidisciplinary approaches to understanding amyloid filaments in FTLD, coexisting neurodegenerative pathologies, and the role of growth factors like FGF9 in disease progression. Dr. Arseni is actively recruiting for fully funded PhD and postdoctoral positions to advance this research.
