Di Di is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Santa Clara University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Rice University (2019) and a BA in Law from Tongji University (2012). Her research focuses on social inequality, particularly gender disparities in scientific and religious institutions, with a transnational comparative lens. Methodologically, she combines surveys, statistical analysis, and ethnographic approaches to explore topics like tech workers' religious practices, mental health among scientists, and the role of spirituality in global contexts.
Key research areas include the intersection of religion and technology ethics, gender representation in STEM fields, and the impact of national religious contexts on gender attitudes. She has been awarded multiple grants, including funding from the Explaining Atheism Programme (£35k) and Santa Clara’s Ciocca Center. Her work has been published in journals such as Gender, Work & Organization, Zygon, and Socius.
