Dhanashree Dhanashree is a Research Fellow at The Ohio State University, affiliated with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Her primary research focuses on microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, and probiotics, with an emphasis on avian pathogens like Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC). She is based at the Food Animal Health Building in Wooster, Ohio, and can be reached via email at dhanashree.1@osu.edu.
Her work bridges basic science and applied research, addressing critical issues in veterinary medicine and food safety. Key areas include developing novel therapeutic leads against APEC, characterizing antimicrobial peptides from probiotics, and exploring multidrug-resistant probiotics as antibiotic alternatives. She has also contributed to understanding bacterial pathogenesis mechanisms and zoonotic risks associated with APEC.
Dr. Dhanashree’s publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches, such as constructing databases for probiotic kinases (PeSTK db) and elucidating enzyme activities in palm oil sludge. Her research often intersects with clinical applications, including drug efficacy testing in poultry and bacterial membrane asymmetry studies.
While no specific awards are listed, her contributions to antimicrobial resistance and probiotic research reflect a commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in agriculture and human health. Her work is conducted in collaboration with the Food Animal Health Research Program, emphasizing translational outcomes for animal health challenges.
