Catherine Logue is a Professor and Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Population Health at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center. Her expertise spans food safety, bacterial pathogenesis in poultry production, and antimicrobial resistance. She holds advanced degrees in Food Microbiology and has over two decades of research experience.
Education:
- D.Phil. in Food Microbiology, University of Ulster (1991–1996)
- Graduate Diploma in Food Science and Technology, College of Technology, Dublin (1990–1991)
- B.Sc. in Biology, Chemistry & Math, National University of Ireland (1987–1990)
Research Focus: Her work centers on detection and characterization of foodborne pathogens (Salmonella, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus) and extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC, APEC, NMEC). She investigates antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, pathogen transmission in poultry systems, and molecular virulence factors.
Publications Trends: Her recent articles emphasize genomic analysis of drug-resistant E. coli clades, biofilm formation dynamics, and zoonotic pathogen prevalence in food production. She frequently collaborates on studies linking poultry production systems to human health risks.
Lab Affiliation: Her research is conducted at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center, focusing on translational microbiology and food safety solutions.
