Dr. Devashis Mitra is Dean of the Faculty of Management and a Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). He joined UNB in 1991 as an Assistant Professor, later serving as Associate Dean for Research/Strategic Initiatives and International Programs before becoming Dean in 2013. Under his leadership, the faculty rebranded from Business Administration to Management in 2019 and launched programs like the Master of Quantitative Investment Management and business analytics courses. He has established global partnerships with universities in Germany, India, China, Dubai, Vietnam, and France.
Dr. Mitra holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a BA in Economics (Honours) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, venture capital, crowdfunding, corporate governance, and international financial management. He co-authored the widely adopted Fundamentals of Corporate Finance textbook series.
His awards include two UNB Merit Awards (2001, 2012) and the 2002 Excellence in Research Award. He serves on boards such as the Business Schools Association of Canada and Jindal Global Business School’s International Advisory Board.
