Desirée Hassler serves as Professor of Music in the Department of Music and Media Arts at Moody Bible Institute, where she has taught since July 2014.
Her educational credentials include:
- BA from The Master’s College
- DMA and MM from the University of Illinois
Specializing in vocal performance and historical musicology, her research spans vocal literature, foreign language diction, opera history, American music history, period performance practice, folk and non-western vocal traditions, and contemporary Christian music. Her work emphasizes historical context and cross-cultural vocal practices.
Hassler maintains an active performance career as a soprano recitalist and concert artist, conducting master classes across the United States and Canada. In Chicago, she performs with the Lyric Opera chorus, Chicago Bach Project, and Grant Park Music Festival. She holds professional memberships in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
