Desirée Enlund is an Assistant Professor at Theme Gender (TEMAG) and the Department of Theme (TEMA) at Linköping University. Her research focuses on social movements, public healthcare restructuring, and the political economy of smart cities, integrating feminist, political, and economic geography in both rural and urban contexts. She explores how collective action shapes societal change and examines digitalization in healthcare through the MD GIG project.

Her work spans feminist and economic geography, analyzing how smart city technologies are developed through inclusive urban planning. She investigates horizontal tensions in digital governance and the impact of platform economies on healthcare labor. Her recent publications address citizen cooperatives, resistance to healthcare privatization, and digital sovereignty in smart cities.
In the MD GIG project (2022-2025, funded by the Swedish Research Council), she examines how doctors engage with gig work in digital healthcare and its implications for labor rights and public health. She is also part of the Smart City and Digital Sovereignty Network, advocating for citizen rights in tech-driven urban development.

Enlund teaches in the Gender Studies Master’s program and courses in human geography and urban planning. She has held visiting researcher roles at BI Norwegian Business School (2024-2025) and the University of Oslo (2023-2024), contributing to interdisciplinary debates on digital healthcare and rural futures.
