Dr Deryn Guest is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham. Her research bridges biblical hermeneutics with gender theory, queer theory, and psychological frameworks, examining non-binary constructions of masculinities and femininities in biblical texts. She also explores ecofeminist interpretations of scripture and the intersection of spiritual practices with mental health and self-development.

Her academic work focuses on feminist and postfeminist critiques of biblical scholarship, trauma theory in Exodus narratives, and environmental readings of the Book of Judges. She has published extensively on transgender and intersex approaches to biblical texts, including co-editing the 2016 volume Transgender, Intersex, and Biblical Interpretation.
Guest's recent publications analyze feminist theology in higher education, lesbian readings of Exodus, and ecofeminist engagements with Judges. She has received recognition for her doctoral supervision, including the 2016 College of Arts and Law 'Excellence in Doctoral Research Supervision' award, and actively supports part-time students through flexible modalities.
