Dr. Derya SARI is an Associate Professor at Artvin Coruh University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Landscape Architecture, Plant Materials and Cultivation Division. She has held various administrative positions including Vice Dean of the university (2024-present, 2021-2024, 2018-2021, 2013-2016) and Head of Department (2013-2019).
Her research focuses on landscape architecture with specialization in plant materials, medicinal and aromatic plants in landscape design, urban green spaces, and pollination-supporting plants. She has conducted extensive research on urban floristic diversity, sustainable landscape design, and alpine/rocky habitat plants. Her work bridges ecological principles with practical landscape applications.
Dr. SARI's recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward sustainable and ecological landscape design, with particular emphasis on ecosystem services, biodiversity conservation in urban settings, and the integration of native plant species. Her research spans from theoretical design principles to practical applications in campus landscapes, coastal areas, and protected natural areas in northeastern Turkey.
She actively teaches courses including Plant Identification and Evaluation, Design with Natural Elements, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Landscape, and Theme Gardens in Landscape Architecture. Her academic contributions include numerous book chapters on landscape architecture and sustainable design approaches.
Dr. SARI's administrative experience as Vice Dean and Department Head demonstrates her leadership in academic administration while maintaining active research and teaching commitments in the field of landscape architecture.
