Prof. Dr. MEHMET ERSOY currently serves as Professor at Artvin Coruh University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and at Artvin Vocational School's Banking and Insurance Program since 2019. Previously, he was Associate Professor at Marmara University's Banking and Insurance School (2014-2019) and held various academic positions at Marmara University since 1979.
His extensive educational background includes a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Marmara University (1984-1989), a Bachelor's in Accounting from Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences (1977-1978), and a Bachelor's in Business from Marmara University (1973-1977). Beyond academia, he has significant professional experience including serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee at Yapı ve Kredi Bankası (2004-2006) and as Member of the Board of Directors at Emlak Katılım Bankası (2006-2020).
Prof. Ersoy's research focuses on Islamic finance, banking, accounting, corporate governance, and real estate finance. His work demonstrates a strong connection between theoretical finance concepts and practical applications, particularly in the Turkish context. He has published extensively on topics including non-interest financing models, Islamic banking standards, and the role of finance in agricultural development.
His recent publications show a clear trend toward green Islamic finance, sustainable development applications, and the intersection of traditional finance with ethical and religious considerations. The articles demonstrate increasing focus on practical applications of Islamic finance principles in specific sectors like medical aromatic plants cultivation and real estate.
Prof. Ersoy has supervised numerous graduate theses across various finance and accounting topics, demonstrating his commitment to academic mentorship. His administrative roles include serving as Dean of Artvin Coruh University since 2019 and previously as Vice Rector (2021-2022).
He has authored several books including 'Internal Control in Participation Banks' (2019), 'Construction Accounting and VEGI Applications' (2016), and 'Modeling of Sectoral Financial Statements in Turkey' (2011). His current research projects include marketing of medical aromatic and ecological products produced in Artvin.
