Derren Rosbach

Derren Rosbach is an Associate Professor of Teaching at The Global School of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). His work focuses on interdisciplinary environmental governance, sustainability planning, and high-impact teaching practices. Rosbach holds a PhD from Virginia Tech (2010), an MS from Western Carolina University (2005), and a BA from College of the Atlantic (1995).

His research explores the dynamics of coupled social-natural systems and collaborative approaches to sustainability challenges. He teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Great Problems Seminars: The World's Water and Power the World. Rosbach emphasizes critical thinking about land/resource use, policy choices, and the interplay between human societies and environmental systems.

His scholarly work includes publications on transdisciplinary project-based learning, sustainable design frameworks, and collaborative governance strategies. He is affiliated with departments including Environmental & Sustainability Studies, Integrative & Global Studies, and Civil, Environmental, & Architectural Engineering. Rosbach also contributes to the Sustaining WPI Project Center, fostering real-world sustainability initiatives through student projects.
