معرفی
Dermon Ekaterini is a Professor at the Department of Animal Biology, University of Patras. Her research focuses on developmental neurobiology, neural plasticity, and the role of neurotransmitter systems in brain function. She teaches undergraduate courses in Human and Animal Physiology, Neurobiology, and postgraduate courses on brain plasticity mechanisms.
- PhD in Physiology/Neurobiology (1987), Medical School, University of Patras
- Biology Graduate (1981), University of Patras
Her research explores:
- Developmental neurobiology (cell proliferation, neuronal migration)
- Epigenetic influences on brain plasticity (sex hormones, trauma, hypertension)
- Neurotransmitter system dynamics in teleost and avian models
- Computational approaches to brain development analysis
Recent publications highlight trends in neuroplasticity mechanisms, with emphasis on learning-induced neural changes and hormonal modulation of brain activity across vertebrate models. She has contributed to understanding sexual phase transitions in teleosts and stress-related neural adaptations.
Professor Dermon's work integrates molecular, physiological, and computational approaches to study brain development and function. She has collaborated with international researchers like Jacques Balthazart and Robert Mileusnic, applying quantitative autoradiography and graph theory to neurobiological questions.
