Derek W. Laux

Derek W. Laux is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Eastern Connecticut State University within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, with postdoctoral experience at the University of Edinburgh. His office is located in Science, Room 367, and office hours are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Research Interests: Professor Laux investigates the role of innate immune cells in early cancer development and oncogene-induced senescence. His work emphasizes live imaging techniques in zebrafish models to study tumor microenvironment dynamics.

Teaching Interests: He teaches courses in Cell Biology, Cell Structure and Function, and Immunology.

Publications Trend: His recent research focuses on host innate immune responses to pre-neoplastic cells and transformed cell interactions using zebrafish-based genetic imaging systems.
