Derek S. Burdette is an Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Florida's School of Art + Art History. His research focuses on colonial Latin American art, particularly the intersections of art, religion, and colonialism in New Spain, with a specialization in miraculous imagery in colonial Mexico City. His work has been supported by prestigious grants including the Fulbright Program, ACLS, the Mellon Foundation, and the John Carter Brown Library.
