Derek Catsam is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Texas Permian Basin, holding the Kathlyn Cosper Dunagan Professor in the Humanities chair. He specializes in race and politics in the United States and southern Africa, with a particular focus on sports as a lens for understanding social and political transformations.
