Denyse King is a registered midwife and Lecturer in Midwifery at Bournemouth University, affiliated with the Faculty of Media and Communication. Her research focuses on Virtual Reality Learning Environments (VRLE) in healthcare education, maternal and childhood obesity (MaCO), and bridging the theory-practice gap. She is currently developing the Collaborative Alternative Augmented Reality Series (CAARS) project, exploring immersive technologies' impact on student learning and patient care.

Her research interests include VRLE applications, obesity prevention strategies, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She co-authored a textbook on maternal/child obesity with Fotini Tsofliou (Nutrition Department). Current projects involve testing 3D virtual environments to enhance healthcare education across disciplines.
Teaching roles include Unit Leader for Maternal & Childhood Obesity (MaCO) and Introduction to Professional Practice. She oversees Moving and Handling training for midwifery students and contributes to safeguarding education. External activities include consultancy for Health Education England and a Writer in Residence role at Portsmouth Libraries (2012).
