Dennis Doverspike is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at George Mason University, specializing in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Akron (1983) and is a licensed psychologist in Ohio, certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in both Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Organizational and Business Consulting. A Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), he previously served as Full Professor and Director of the Center for Organizational Research at the University of Akron.
His research focuses on psychometrics, legal issues in employment, personnel selection, and the impact of emerging technologies on workplace practices. Key areas include certification testing for emergency services, public sector motivation, and generational workplace dynamics. He has authored over 200 publications and 4 books, including Becoming an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (2019) and Essentials of Personnel Assessment and Selection (2016).
Recent work addresses AI ethics in hiring, EMS staffing crises, and pay equity analyses. His consulting firm, Doverspike Consulting LLC/HR Litehouse, provides expert testimony in employment litigation and organizational consulting services. He has contributed to policy guidelines for doctoral training in consulting psychology and frequently presents on topics like STEM education and aging workforce challenges.
