Dennis Dorcas

Dennis Dorcas is an Assistant Professor of African and Caribbean Religions at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington (UNCW), with expertise in sub-Saharan African Indigenous Religions, their interactions with Christianity and Islam, and diasporic expressions in the Americas and Australia. His research intersects with migration, health, race, justice, identity, and media, utilizing both traditional and digital ethnographic methods.

• Education: Ph.D. from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand; M.A. from Florida International University, Miami-Florida.

Dr. Dennis is also affiliated with the Henry Luce Foundation, where he serves as a fellow in the Crossroads Project and Sacred Writes Fellowship. His work bridges religious studies, anthropology, and diaspora studies, focusing on cultural and spiritual dynamics in global contexts.
