Elizabeth Bucar is a Professor of Religion at Northeastern University and a Dean's Leadership Fellow in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. She specializes in religious ethics and public scholarship, focusing on cultural appropriation, Islamic studies, and gender issues in religion.
- Education: Ph.D. in Religious Ethics (University of Chicago, 2006), BA in Government (Harvard)
Her research explores how religious difference shapes ethical frameworks, particularly in debates around religious clothing, spiritual commodification, and gender norms. She has authored six major publications, including books on Islamic veiling and cultural appropriation.
