- PhD in Economics, University of Leicester (2017)
Dr. Sevinc's research focuses on labour economics, income distribution, and regional economic development, with strong applications in development and international economics. Her work addresses critical issues such as multidimensional poverty, regional qualification gaps, and the socio-economic impacts of policy changes like Brexit and clean air zones. She employs both theoretical and empirical methods, including machine learning and synthetic control approaches, to evaluate public policies and regional disparities.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on regional inequality, inclusive growth, and policy evaluation, particularly in the UK context. Articles in Regional Studies, Social Indicators Research, and PLoS ONE demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach, combining economic modeling with social and environmental policy analysis. Her research often involves collaboration with major institutions and contributes to evidence-based policymaking.
Dr. Sevinc is actively involved in research funding, with several grants awarded as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator from bodies including Research England, NERC, and ESRC. Her projects include the Impact Assessment of Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone and research on post-Brexit policy needs for 'left-behind' places. She is also engaged in broader collaborative networks related to urban living and economic resilience.
She is willing to supervise PhD and Master’s students in areas such as development economics, international economics, labour economics, and regional development. Her role as a referee for top journals like Journal of Economic Growth and Regional Studies, and her membership in professional associations such as the Royal Economic Society and the Regional Studies Association, underscore her active presence in the academic community.
