Professor Anne Green is a leading academic in Regional Economic Development at the University of Birmingham, affiliated with the Birmingham Business School and the Department of Strategy and International Business. She is a core member of City-REDI (Regional Economic Development Institute), where her research focuses on employment, skills, migration, and inclusive growth.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Employment Research from the University of Warwick, an MLitt in Geography from Newcastle University, and a BA (First Class Honours) in Geography from University College London.
Professor Green's research centers on applied economic and social policy issues, particularly regional and local labour markets, inclusive growth, skills strategies, labour migration, and urban development. She investigates how policy can address inequality, low pay, and unemployment, with a strong emphasis on evaluation and evidence-based recommendations.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on regional disparities, skills mismatches, and the impact of policy interventions. Key themes include inclusive growth, remote work, productivity, and the integration of migrants into the workforce.
