John Bryson

Professor John Bryson is the Chair in Enterprise and Economic Geography at the Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, where he is affiliated with the Department of Strategy and International Business. He is a leading scholar in economic geography, with extensive research on enterprise, regional development, and the spatial organization of economic activity.

John Bryson’s work centers on understanding how production, knowledge, and enterprise are organized across space. He has pioneered studies on city-regions, infrastructure finance, and pandemic recovery, emphasizing the role of place in shaping economic resilience and innovation.
