Deniz Gazel

Deniz Gazel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. She has been actively contributing to medical microbiology research and education since joining Gaziantep University, where she holds teaching responsibilities across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in medical microbiology.

Dr. Gazel completed her medical education at Trakya University (1995-2009) followed by specialization in Medical Microbiology at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (2009-2013). Her academic career progressed from Research Assistant at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (2009-2013) to Lecturer (2016-2022) and ultimately Associate Professor (2022-present) at Gaziantep University.

Her research primarily focuses on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches against challenging pathogens. Dr. Gazel has made significant contributions to understanding hyperthermia applications against bacterial pathogens, methylene blue's antibacterial properties, and tuberculosis diagnostics. Her work addresses critical challenges in medical microbiology including MRSA, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex strains. Recent publications demonstrate her expertise in thermal biology applications against pathogens and alternative antimicrobial strategies.

Dr. Gazel's publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on innovative approaches to combat antibiotic-resistant pathogens. Her recent work explores thermal biology applications in microbiology, alternative antimicrobial compounds, and improved diagnostic methodologies for challenging infections. This research trajectory reflects her commitment to addressing pressing challenges in clinical microbiology through both basic and applied research approaches.

Dr. Gazel serves as a thesis advisor for graduate students and has been involved in numerous research projects. She also contributes to the scientific community through manuscript reviewing for international journals and participation in professional organizations. Her laboratory focuses on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches against multidrug-resistant pathogens.
